fireplaces and direct-vent gas systems.
Some
customers prefer gas systems over wood because of their
convenience and cleanliness, however these systems must
be inspected and/or serviced annually. They give
off heat and exhaust byproducts, which can become
hazardous under certain circumstances.
There are
three types of gas systems: vented fire log sets, which
are installed inside a functional fireplace; vent-free
sets, which must be installed inside a functional
firebox; direct-vent systems, which utilize outside air
for combustion and are completely sealed. We do not
recommend the install of vent-free log sets without a
functioning flue.
