Do have your dryer vent serviced at least
annually.

Do hire a C-DET Certified contractor to
service your system. Make sure they are fully insured.

Don't use plastic or vinyl connector
hoses to exhaust your dryer.

Do install a bird guard-- they love to
nest inside your vent.

Don't push your dryer up against the
wall, crushing the connector hose. A crushed or kinked
hose can be hazardous.

Do check the area around and behind your
dryer for lint...if any exists it could be a hazard and signify
venting problems.

Do clean your lint screen before every
use.

Do look for water or condensation stains
on the wall or ceiling around the dryer. If present they
can signify problems.

Don't exhaust your dryer into any part
of the house.

Do insulate dryer vent duct work that
passes through unheated areas.

Do leave a clearance of at least 18"
around your dryer.
